The Niagara Falls Poetry Contest

The Niagara Falls Poetry contest is introduced by the Niagara Falls Writer’s Festival to encourage local and international submissions of poetry about the geography, people and wonder that is Niagara Falls.

Winning poems will be selected by the Niagara Falls Writer’s Festival committee, with prize money going to the grand prize winner of each category. Grand prize winners will also win a Chapbook Contract with Grey Borders Books (value $250.00 CAD).

All entrance fees will be used to generate a larger prize pot.

Winners will be announced at the Niagara Falls Writer’s Festival 2019 closing ceremonies, happening Saturday, October 19th, 2019 (location TBD).

The top 50 poems will be published in an anthology of Niagara Falls Poetry by Grey Borders Books in 2020. All submissions may choose to have their works displayed on the Niagara Falls Poetry Project page, a literary collection of poems from around the world about Niagara Falls.

Theme: For our inaugural contest, we are interested in poetry that reflects contemporary meanings of what Niagara Falls is, what it stands for, and what it could be in the future.
